All Levels Ceramics. Begins Tuesday 25th February for 6 weeks
Our All Levels Ceramics course is an exciting opportunity for beginners to learn the basics of handbuilding and throwing, while more experienced ceramicists can refine their skills and experiment.
You’ll have an opportunity to explore:
Handbuilding - pinching, coiling and slab building
Throwing on the potter's wheel
Applying texture and colour through slip decoration and glazing
Each session will include demonstrations which introduce potters of all levels to new techniques and approaches. You’ll also be encouraged to initiate your own ideas in clay and will be supported throughout by our experienced tutor.
If you’re new to the potter’s wheel you’ll receive an introduction to wheel throwing, covering the fundamental elements of this making process. For improving throwers who can centre confidently and throw basic forms, you’ll be able to work independently on a self initiated project.
Our experienced tutor will show you a range of decorating techniques, helping you to create dynamic surfaces on your hand built and thrown pieces. During the final session you’ll learn how to glaze your pieces and prepare them for the kiln firing.
This course is limited to 7 students ensuring everyone has adequate access to resources and technical support from the tutor.
